Our Bariatric Surgical Team

Thomas Cerabona, M.D., F.A.C.S

 

Dr. Cerabona has been performing obesity surgery since 1990 and is a member of the American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery.

Dr. Cerabona is a Board Certified general surgeon and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and is Board Certified specialist in Critical Care. He helps take care of some of the most difficult patients in the country and remains a member of the NY State review board to ensure the quality of medical care throughout the state is maintained.

Dr. Cerabona is also involved in the training of residents and fellows in general surgery and laparoscopic surgery.


Ashutosh Kaul, M.D., M.S., F.R.C.S., F.A.C.S.

 

Ashutosh Kaul, M.D., M.S., F.R.C.S., F.A.C.S. is a member of the American Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Society. Dr Kaul  has trained in India, UK and USA and is a board Certified general surgeon with further fellowship training in Minimally Invasive Surgery. He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons  and is also a member of the Royal College of Surgeons, Edinburgh.  

He has presided as the President of the NYS Chapter of the American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery and is the Director of the Fellowship Program in minimally invasive surgery at New York Medical College. He is active in medical research and has many book chapters and publications to his credit. He has been invited as faculty at many international conferences and courses including live bariatric surgery transmissions.


Anthony Maffei, M.D., F.A.C.S.

 

Dr. Anthony Maffei, M.D., F.A.C.S., is a minimally invasive and bariatric surgeon at Westchester Medical Center. He completed his general surgery residency at The Stamford Hospital/Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. He was fellowship trained in minimal access/bariatric surgery at The Institute of Minimally Invasive Surgery in New York.

Dr. Maffei is a board certified general surgeon and a Diplomate of the American College of Surgeons. An assistant professor of surgery at New York Medical College, Dr. Maffei is also involved in the training of residents and fellows in general surgery and minimal access surgery. 

Dr. Maffei and his team have over 35 years of combined experience and have performed more than 4,000 bariatric surgeries. His highly trained team is dedicated to providing the highest level of patient care every step of the way. They present regularly at national meetings and have performed live surgeries by teleconference at many society meetings. Dr. Maffei regularly manages some of the most challenging and complex patients.  He engages all levels of obesity, ages, and co-morbid conditions.  He maintains the highest standards of care for weight loss surgeries and re-operations.

Dr. Maffei was recently appointed as a police surgeon for the City of Peekskill. 


Jonathan Giannone, M.D., D.A.B.S.

 

Dr. Jonathan Giannone M.D., D.A.B.S., is a Board Certified general surgeon. After earning his medical degree at Rush Medical College in Chicago, Dr. Giannone completed his surgical residency at the University of Illinois-Chicago Metropolitan Group Hospitals. He then did fellowship training in minimally invasive/bariatric surgery at Westchester Medical Center in New York.

As an Assistant Professor of Surgery at New York Medical College, Dr. Giannone actively works in the training of surgical students, residents, and fellows. Dr. Giannone has presented at multiple national surgical conferences and has discussed new techniques in laparoscopic and bariatric surgery. He is an active member of the American College of Surgeons and the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons.

Outside of the operating room, Dr. Giannone enjoys playing and watching sports and spending time with his family.
