Cancer Registry
The Cancer Registry at Westchester Medical Center is an integral part of the hospital's cancer program. It maintains a complete profile of all types of cancer diagnosed and treated at this facility since January 1, 1981, and serves as an information collection and dissemination system designed specifically for cancer patients. It provides a source of information to assist in program planning and resource allocations as well as affording information for grants and research, clinical trials, cancer conferences and symposia at the Medical Center and for New York medical College.
The American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer's latest standards are followed, with a new reference date of January 1, 2007. The staff provides lifetime annual surveillance of patients, tracking their disease status, quality of survival and subsequent treatment. Our patients are monitored at the current follow-up rate of 97%.
