Diplomate of the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Thoracic Surgery, Dr. Spielvogel received his bachelor’s degree from Pennsylvania State University and his MD from the State University of New York Health Science Center at Brooklyn, where he completed residency training in General Surgery.
Dr. Spielvogel also completed residencies in Cardiothoracic Surgery at Mount Sinai Medical Center and Specialist Registrar in Cardiothoracic Surgery at Harefield Hospital in the United Kingdom, where he underwent advanced training in thoracic transplantation.
Dr. Spielvogel has written extensively on thoracic aortic aneurysm repair and has helped pioneer many of the surgical techniques now used in treating this condition. He has lectured at national meetings, prestigious American medical centers and internationally on his widely adopted method of aortic arch replacement.
Before joining Westchester Heart and Vascular in 2005, Dr. Spielvogel worked closely with Dr. Steven L. Lansman at Mount Sinai, where he served as Director of Heart Transplantation for more than a year. He has won numerous awards for his work, lectured at a wide range of professional conferences and co-authored more than 75 original peer-reviewed articles, books and chapters.
Dr. Spielvogel is a Diplomate of the National Board of Medical Examiners, the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Thoracic Surgery.
