Facts about our Hospital
Maria Fareri Children's Hospital is a world-class, all-specialty pediatric hospital offering a unique physical environment for our young patients and their families. Featuring a lobby with the world's largest dollhouse, a sports arcade, a performing arts stage and a walk-through aquarium, our facility offers the most advanced pediatric care available in an environment where the creative surroundings are a functional part of the healing process.
Serving more than 20,000 children each year, there are many things about Maria Fareri Children's Hospital that set us apart:
- We are home to the region's only intensive care unit designed specifically for pediatric care
- Our state-of-the-art, Level IV (most sophisticated) Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) is the only one in the region
- All of our rooms are private in-patient rooms with bathrooms, showers and parent sleeping areas
- We provide developmentally appropriate activities to all of our patients in our pre-school, elementary and teen-aged activity rooms
- Our on-site Ronald McDonald House features a living room, kitchen and five family suites (under construction)
- Our Family Resource Center includes a library that serves as a respite area for parents and families as well as a portal to health and other information via Web-accessible computers
- We are the headquarters for the Hudson Valley's Regional Perinatal Center
- Our hospital is one of only five American Lung Association sponsored Pediatric Asthma Clinical Research Centers in the United States
- Our facilities include a specialized pediatric Hematology/Oncology center offering dedicated programs in bone marrow transplant and experimental chemotherapy, along with the most advanced therapies for sickle cell diseases, thalassemia and other hematological disorders
- We are the Pediatric Organ Transplant Center in the region
- Child Life and Creative Arts Therapy programs with multiple playrooms, an art studio, and art and music therapy programs
