Gastroenterology and Hepatology
Gastroenterology and Hepatobiliary Disease Fellowship Program
Fellows rotate through the Westchester County Medical Center (WMC), Metropolitan Hospital (MH), and Sound Shore Medical Center of Westchester (SSMCW). We believe that the strong faculty and rich clinical and technological environment provide superior training for the motivated Fellow. This has been evidenced by the performance of our Fellows in certifying exams, demand for them in the job market and their success in their chosen career paths.
During the first two years, rotations are arranged so that approximately 55% of the time is spent at WMC, 30% at MH and 15% at SSMCW. The 3rd year is comprised of intense exposure to special areas of gastroenterology and research. Areas of clinical interest of the Faculty include therapeutic endoscopy, biliary and pancreatic endoscopy, endoscopic ultrasound, manometry, nutrition, transplant hepatology, therapy of chronic viral hepatitis and inflammatory bowel disease.
The rotations in the various centers provide Fellows with a balanced exposure to different patient populations and disease entities, as well as secondary and tertiary level referrals.
