Parent Sleepovers

Staying with Your Child

We encourage you to stay with your child and have equipped each room with sleeping accommodations for one family member. You are welcome to stay with your child 24 hours a day, but we ask that only one parent or family member spend the night at a time, and that you wear appropriate sleeping attire. For a variety of safety reasons, we must insist that you do not share a bed with your child. Sleeping in a hospital is not always the quietest environment and unfortunately, we may need to turn on the lights in your child's room to provide nursing care or to administer medication or treatments during the night.

Siblings are an important of your child's support system and we encourage visitation from them as much as possible. However, they may not spend the night and need to be supervised during their time at our hospital. Due to concerns about infection control, the playroom areas are for patients only.

Please feel free to personalize your child's room with familiar items from home. Things such as special blankets or pillows, pictures, or stuffed animals can be comforting for your child during stressful times.
