Raj Murali, M.D., F.A.C.S.
Director of Neurosurgery
Raj Murali, M.D., is the Director of Neurosurgery and Neurovascular Surgery at Westchester Medical Center and a professor of Neurosurgery at New York Medical College. During his 30 years of clinical practice, Dr. Murali has performed more than 10,000 surgical procedures.
He is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and the Royal College of Surgeons of England, Edinburgh and Canada. As a member of the Society of Neurological Surgeons in the United States, Dr. Murali has lectured all over the world. He has authored more than 70 peer-reviewed reports as well as a text book on Trigeminal Neuralgia. His areas of expertise include the management of brain aneurysms, arterio venous malformations, skull base surgery, brain tumors, peripheral nerve disorders and hydrocephalus.
Dr. Murali has trained more than 40 neurosurgical residents. He has been listed among New York Magazine's "Best Doctors" for more than 10 years and is also featured in Castle-Connolly's "Guide to the Best Doctors."
A graduate of Madras University in India, Dr. Murali did post-graduate training in Neurosurgery under Dr. John Gillingham at the University of Edinburgh, U.K., and completed a residency in Neurosurgery at New York University Medical School under Dr. Joseph Ransohoff. An expert surgeon, Dr. Murali is known as much for his compassion as he is for his surgical excellence.
