FOUR WESTCHESTER MEDICAL CENTER PHYSICIANS NAMED TO CONCUSSION TASK FORCE

County Executive Astorino announces the creation of a Concussion Task Force in Westchester County—to help schools address and manage the full spectrum of sports-related concussions

Recently four physicians from Westchester Medical Center Health Network were named by Westchester County Executive Robert P. Astorino to a task force aimed at addressing standards for concussion prevention and treatment in high school athletics.

The Westchester County Concussion Task Force has been created to help develop standardized protocols and resources for pre-injury, sideline management and post-injury treatment of concussions in high school students—helping to develop best practices for concussion identification and management.

The 20-member task force includes medical experts from around the region including Westchester Medical Center’s Jonathan Berkowitz, MD, Medical Director of Regional Emergency Services, Inter-Facility Transfer and Disaster Medicine as well as three other Physicians from our Maria Fareri Children’s including; Vicki Iannotti, MD, Associate Chief of General Pediatrics and Pediatric Hospitalist Medicine; Ronald Jacobson, MD, Chief of Pediatric Neurology; and Avinash Mohan, MD, Co-Chief of Pediatric Neurosurgery.
