Cardiothoracic Surgery

Overview

The Cardiothoracic Surgery Department at Westchester Medical Center provides comprehensive surgical intervention for all diseases of the heart and lungs, as well as academic excellence in teaching and training medical residents from the New York Medical College. The procedures we perform include coronary artery bypass, valve procedures, aortic aneurysm repairs, heart and lung transplantation and insertion of ventricular assist devices. Many of our surgeries are completed with robotic surgical techniques and are minimally invasive procedures which result in less pain, less scarring, and quicker recovery times.

Working closely with the Cardiology department, we assess each patient's individual needs to determine the best and most comprehensive course of treatment. Patients for whom medical management is not effective benefit from our knowledge and use of the most state-of-the-art surgical techniques available for improving cardiac and pulmonary functioning.  We provide consistently high quality care and perform numerous procedures a year, including life-saving pediatric surgeries.
