Easing Your Hospital Experience
Maria Fareri Children's Hospital offers supportive services to you and your family during your stay with us. Our services are intended to provide comfort and information in ways that are engaging for both you and your child, and which will help ease the sometimes difficult process of hospitalization.
Our services include:
- Support Groups
Maria Fareri Children's Hospital and Westchester Medical Center are home to dozens of support groups for patients and their families where you can meet and interact with people who have had experiences similar to yours. Contact the Family Resource Center for support group information: (914) 493-8503.
- Hearing and Vision Impaired Assistance
Our hospital provides telecaption decoders, TDY phones, and sign language interpretation upon request. Contact Patient Advocates at (914) 493-8877.
- Interpreter Services
We can provide interpretation services upon request. Please ask your child's nurse or call the Customer Relations Center at (914) 493-8877 to arrange for an interpreter.
- Service Resolution
Difficult treatment decisions may sometimes cause disagreement between you, your family members, or your physician. We provide consultation with an ethics group consisting of specially trained doctors, nurses, clergy and social workers. They can review the facts of your child's case and offer recommendations. If you wish to contact the ethics group, please check with your nurse or doctor to arrange a meeting.
