Yin Hu M.D.
Dr. Hu joined Westchester Medical Center as a dual-trained microsurgical and endovascular neurosurgeon. He graduated from The Chicago Medical School and completed his neurosurgery training at The Neurological Institute at Case Western Reserve University. He also completed two sub-specialized neurosurgical fellowships: Endovascular Neurosurgery and Cerebrovascular / Skull Base Neurosurgery at Barrow Neurological Institute in Phoenix, Arizona.
Dr. Hu holds a joint appointment in the Department of Neurological Surgery and Department of Radiology at Westchester Medical Center. His practices focus on microsurgical and neurointerventional techniques for complex neurovascular diseases and tumors of the brain and spine, including aneurysms, arteriovenous malformations (AVMs), arteriovenous fistulas (AVFs), cavernous malformations, stroke, carotid stenosis, moyamoya diseases, dissections, intracranial stenosis, and bypass procedures. He also specializes in brain tumors of the skull base and spine, including meningiomas, craniopharyngiomas, acoustic neuromas, chondrosarcomas, chordomas, metastases, ependymomas and schwannomas. Dr. Hu also performs microvascular decompression for neurovascular-related pain syndromes such as trigeminal neuralgia and glossopharyngeal neuralgia.
Dr. Hu believes in thoughtful integration between innovative neurosurgical and endovascular techniques, patient outcome and quality of life and mentorship to future neurosurgery trainees. He is a member of the Education Committee of the Congress of Neurological Surgeons focusing on improving and enhancing neurosurgical education.
Dr. Hu’s research focuses on revolutionary clinical trials combined with innovative, new technologies in microsurgical and interventional procedures to improve patient outcome. He is the author of multiple peer-reviewed papers in prestigious journals including Neurosurgery and Journal of Neurosurgery. He also has published numerous chapters in influential neurosurgical books on cerebrovascular diseases and treatments.
