Rooms Most rooms at Westchester Medical Center are semi-private, each with its own bathroom with shower, and heating and air conditioning controls. Each bed has controls on both sides as well as a "call bell," a two-way intercom connected to the nursing station through which you can speak to the nurse. Rooms are assigned based on the level of care you require and may change as your care requirements change.

Telephone Service Most patient rooms have private bedside telephones available on a daily rental basis for local outgoing and incoming calls. Calls outside the local calling area must be charged to a phone card, your home phone or the person you are calling. There are no charges for calls within the Medical Center. Please note that private telephone service is typically not reimbursable by insurance plans. Public, coin-operated telephones are located throughout Westchester Medical Center.
Westchester Medical Center restricts the use of cellular telephones in ALL patient care areas and units, as well as all procedural and diagnostic areas. Cellular phones may be used in public-use, non-patient care areas such as lobbies, cafeterias and waiting rooms (unless otherwise restricted). Please be considerate to other patients, visitors and staff when using cellular phones.

Television Television sets are located in patient and visitor lounges throughout the Medical Center, as well as in patient rooms. Patients may watch television in the lounges with a doctor's permission.
You may wish to rent a television set in your room for a daily rental fee. The television rental company may ask for advance payment, but you need not make payment the first day in order to have the television connected. There are continuous patient information and education channels on all television sets that are available free of charge.
