Congenital Heart Disease

Teen-to-Adult Heart Disease Transition Program

Westchester Medical Center offers a dedicated program to transition teenage patients with congenital heart disease from pediatric to adult cardiology care. This program, called The WATCH (Westchester Adult Teen Congenital Heart), provides state-of-the-art cardiac care and ancillary services to this unique group of patients.

The WATCH program  is one of the few of its kind in New York registered with the Adult Congenital Heart Disease Association, and includes cardiologists, nurse practitioners and support staff from both our Pediatric and Adult Cardiology departments. The two departments employ a team approach to each patient's care, which extends beyond medical care to include guidance in family dynamics, education, employment and life choices.

The program currently has 150-175 active patients and is growing rapidly.
