Giving House
If you've ever bought or sold a home, you know that writing a commission check to your agent can be a real "pain in the wallet," even if the agent did an outstanding job. But what if you knew a portion of that commission would be going to a vital community resource, like Maria Fareri Children's Hospital at Westchester Medical Center?
That's exactly what is happening through Giving House, the first non-profit endeavor to provide long-term funding to worthy organizations through real estate.
How Does it Work? Giving House turns any real estate transaction -- residential sales, purchases or rentals, as well as commercial sales or leasing - into a philanthropic endeavor. The program matches buyers and seller with top real estate agents, who in turn donate a portion of their commissions to a designated non-profit organization.
As there is no asset more valuable to a community than its children, the Giving House has chosen the Children's Hospital Foundation at Westchester Medical Center as its beneficiary. The Children's Hospital Foundation through donated funds supports Maria Fareri Children's Hospital, the advanced care pediatric facility for New York's Hudson Valley region and Fairfield County, Connecticut. From adolescent medicine to pediatric cardiology, neurosurgery, trauma care, oncology and other clinical specialties, Maria Fareri Children's Hospital treats the region's most critically ill and injured kids.
Proceeds from Giving House transactions will help support the construction of a new inpatient "neighborhood" at the hospital, enabling it to care for more than 450 additional kids each year.
How Can I Be Involved? Whatever your real estate need, a top Giving House agent and firm in your community are ready to provide you with exceptional and ethical real estate services. At your closing (purchase or sale), a donation will be made by the agent on your behalf.
