The Residency Training Program in Diagnostic Radiology of New York Medical College is a four-year program fully accredited for 20 residents with all rotations at Westchester Medical Center (WMC), a tertiary care teaching hospital, including the Maria Fareri Children's Hospital and Trauma Center, and Advanced Imaging, the outpatient imaging center. Our program is designed to provide an organized educational experience with exposure to all current imaging modalities.
About the Program
The structure of the first, second and third years is designed to provide basic core training in Radiology. The fourth year of training focuses on in-depth training in several subspecialty areas. All residents attend the four-week Radiologic Pathology Course offered by the AFIP. By the end of the residency program, the residents meet all ACGME requirements for training.
We have a fully staffed Academic Radiology Department, composed of fellowship trained specialists in all areas, including Neuroradiology, Neuro-Interventional Radiology, Vascular Interventional Radiology, Musculoskeletal Radiology, Body Imaging, Pediatric Radiology, Thoracic Radiology, Mammography, and Nuclear Radiology. The staff is highly committed to the ongoing education of the residents, and they take great pride in their congenial working relationships with the residents. On each rotation, residents are assigned one-on-one with their attendings, to maximize their educational opportunities. Numerous faculty members are heavily involved in ongoing research projects which are always available to the residents for participation. Our faculty members also serve as mentors to the residents as they progress through their residency and seek advanced fellowship training.
