Course Overview:

The incidence of cirrhosis and liver cancer is on the rise in the United States. Each year these disease states are responsible for more than 45,000 deaths in this country. Liver transplantation has the potential to save many individuals whose lives would have been cut short by cirrhosis and liver cancer. The Liver Transplant Program of Westchester Medical Center is hosting a symposium for medical professionals on new developments in the field of liver transplantation.  The conference will improve participants’ understanding of the indications for liver transplant, as well as new trends in recipient selection and organ allocation. The conference will also update participants on the latest advances in liver transplant surgery, live donor liver transplant, and pediatric liver transplant. Additionally, participants will learn how they can partner with the Liver Transplant Program in the long-term care of men, women and children who have undergone liver transplant surgery.
