Comprehensive Neuro-Oncology Services

A multidisciplinary program for the management of brain and spine tumors

What are brain and spine tumors?

Tumors of the brain and spinal cord are abnormal growths of tissue found inside the skull or the bony spinal column (spine). Brain and spine are the primary components of the Central Nervous System (CNS). Benign tumors are noncancerous, and malignant tumors are cancerous. The cancerous type can be either primary or metastatic brain and spine tumors. Symptoms of brain and spinal cord tumors generally develop slowly and worsen over time unless they are treated. The three most common treatment modalities include surgery, radiation and/or chemotherapy.
