100.7 WHUD’s 11th Annual Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals Radiothon Raised More Than $480,000 to Support Lifesaving Care at Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital

VALHALLA, N.Y. (December 28, 2015) - The 11th edition of 100.7 WHUD’s annual Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals Radiothon was its most successful yet, with more than $480,000 raised for Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital, the children’s hospital for New York’s Hudson Valley and Fairfield County, Connecticut.

Thanks to the outpouring of support throughout the Hudson Valley and incredibly generous contributions from community partners ShopRite Supermarkets, Inc., 100.7 WHUD, Saw Mill Auto Sales and the Fareri family, this year’s fundraiser surpassed the 2014 Radiothon, which raised more than $250,000 for Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital.

“We are grateful for the incredible support shown to the hospital through the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals Radiothon,” said Michael Gewitz, M.D., the William Russell McCurdy Physician-in-Chief of Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital, a member of the Westchester Medical Center Health Network (WMCHealth). “The generosity of our sponsors, WHUD listeners and the community as a whole is a wonderful demonstration of confidence by the community in the outstanding pediatric care provided to local children and their families by Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital.”

Other Radiothon sponsors included Tompkins Mahopac Bank, the Page & Otto Marx, Jr. Foundation, Classic Cruisers Car Club and Hot Rods on the Hudson, The Grove at Valhalla Rehabilitation & Nursing Center, All Aboard! Childcare Education Centers and Somers Sports Arena.

Additionally, former and current Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital patients, Boy Scout troops, high school sports teams and area families brought their collected “loot” to the hospital for counting as part of the hospital’s Western-themed, Change Bandits donation program, which garnered over $18,000 for the Radiothon effort.

WHUD, Westchester & the Hudson Valley’s music and information station, has been a consistent supporter of the hospital, which provides seriously ill and injured children from the Hudson Valley and Connecticut’s Fairfield County with life-changing and lifesaving care. During this year’s Radiothon, renowned WHUD personalities Mike and Kacey, Tom Furci and Andy Bale broadcasted live from the lobby of Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital on November 18th, 19th and 20th. Families whose children overcame significant medical challenges due to the hospital’s care shared their inspiring stories on air. Evening personality Kathy Millar and overnight host Bruce Owens continued the fundraising efforts at the 100.7 WHUD studios.
