Reverend John R. Simon

 

Vice President of Network Spiritual Health Services

The Rev. John Simon is the Vice President of Network Spiritual Health Services at Westchester Medical Center Health Network in Valhalla, NY since 2014. An ordained American Baptist clergy of 36 years, serving 20-plus years as a professional healthcare chaplain across the nation, Rev. Simon also served as a pulpit pastor for 18 years.

Rev. Simon is board-certified with the Association of Professional Chaplains (APC) since 2001 and is the immediate past President of its Board of Directors and former Chair of its Professional Ethics Commission. He continues to serve APC on its Nominating Committee and as an Ethics Investigator. He is a graduate of Yale University School of Divinity (M.Div.) and the Iliff School of Theology (M.T.S.) with distinction. Rev. Simon is a product of Prairie View A&M University (B.B.A. - Accounting). His present leadership duties at WMC Health Network includes oversight of Spiritual Health Services at the Valhalla, Poughkeepsie and Kingston campuses; administrative director of the accredited Clinical Pastoral Education Program, member of the Clinical Ethics Committee; serves as an Independent Living Donor Advocate with our Transplant Program and is Chair of our Schwartz Center Compassion Rounds and founding Chair of our newly launched Code Lavender Peer Support Workforce Network Initiative launched in winter 2023.
